Bank of America, National Association is one of the largest banks in the United States with over $2.6 trillion in assets and more than 5,900 branch locations across 40 states. Originally founded as the Bank of Italy in San Francisco in 1904 by Amadeo Giannini to serve working-class and immigrant communities, the bank adopted its current name in 1930 and merged with NationsBank of Charlotte in 1998.
